Buds Rehabilitation Centre, located in Puzhakkattiri Gramapanchayath, is dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities, particularly those facing mental challenges. Disability, whether physical or psychological, can significantly impact daily functioning, often leading to economic and emotional strain on families. Recognizing this need, Kudumbashree launched the Disability Mainstreaming Program, establishing “BUDs” as a compassionate and stigma-free institution.

Our journey began with the founding of the first BUDS institution in 2004 at Venganoor Panchayat. This initiative aimed to provide an inclusive environment where children with mental disabilities could receive education up to the age of 18 in a supportive, mainstream setting. As awareness grew, so did the need for facilities catering to adults with mental disabilities, especially in rural communities. Responding to these needs, the Kudumbashree mission, with support from the Government of Kerala, extended its focus to the post-school age group, resulting in the formation of BUDs Rehabilitation Centers in 2015.

At Buds Rehabilitation Centre, we offer not only educational programs but also day care and specialized training to enhance the quality of life for adults with mental challenges. Our center serves as a haven for personal growth and community integration, fostering a supportive environment that uplifts individuals and their families alike.
